Indoor Track and Field Set for Busy Weekend

TROY, Alabama – Troy's 2017 indoor track and field season continues this weekend at both the Bob Pollack Invitational in Clemson, S.C., and the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.

After a weekend off, the Trojans aim to improve from their impressive opening weekend with two meets in three days. At the Vulcan Invitational, Troy had 25 top 10 finishes, highlighted by Hakim Montgomery's first place 60-meter sprint, which is currently tied for 13th in the nation, and Niata Alexander's second place finish in the 400-meter dash.

The Bob Pollack Invitational will be only the third event hosted at the newly renovated indoor track facility at Clemson University. It will begin with the men's multi 60-meter dash at 10 a.m., on Friday and conclude Saturday afternoon with the men's 4x400-meter relay finals.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Hakim Montgomery, whose 6.66 60-meter dash at the Vulcan Invitational was the best at the event and currently tied for 13th in the nation, will compete in the 60-meter sprint, 200-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.

Niata Alexander, who finished second in the 400-meter at the Vulcan Invitational, is competing in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay.

"We are taking a select few to compete due to the caliber of competition," said Marc Davis. "We are looking for people to step up and have break through performances. I am making good on a promise to expose our athletes to great completion at the national level and this is a great step towards that."

Caleb Brown, who shattered his previous personal best weight throw with a 16.61 meter toss at the Vulcan, will compete in the shot put and the weight throw events.

Alexis Garrett, who finished eighth in her first collegiate high jump event, will compete in the 200-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, high jump and 4x400-meter relay.

"KMS invitational will be another great competition," said Davis. "We are still looking to solidify spots on the women's side for the Sun Belt championships and allow the men to gain more experience in preparation for outdoor season."
