Men’s Golf Slips Up on Day Two at The Grove

COLLEGE GROVE, Tennessee – The Troy men's golf team team slipped five spots into a tie for eighth following Monday's second round of the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove. Clayton Vannoy once again led the Trojans as he shot a round of even par and is tied for third place overall at 2-under par.
The big numbers hurt Troy on Monday as the Trojans had eight double-bogeys and one triple-bogey on the day to go along with an eagle and 10 birdies.
Cam Norman by far had the most eventful day of any golfer on the course as he carded four birdies and an eagle on the 344-yard, par-4 fourth hole. However, he had two double-bogeys and a bogey and finished even on the day and tied for 28th overall.
The Trojans will enter Tuesday's final round just 12 shots off the pace and four shots out of fourth place. Troy is just a pair of strokes back of No. 3 Georgia with 18 holes to play.
Jared Bettcher is tied for 43rd place overall after shooting 4-over on the day with a pair of birdies, while Luke Moser and Calum Masters are tied for 60th place after rounds of 8-over and 6-over, respectively.
Paced by individual leader Braden Thornberry, Ole Miss will carry a two-shot lead over College of Charleston in Tuesday's final round. Vannoy is just two shots back of Thornberry, who is 4-under, for the individual title.
Troy will play Tuesday's final round with Wisconsin with the first grouping hitting the course at 9:09 a.m.
