COLLEGE GROVE, Tennessee โ Clayton Vannoy fired a 2-under 70 to lead the Troy men's golf team in Sunday's opening round of the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove. The Trojans are tied for third place after shooting 4-over on the day as a team.

Vannoy sank four birdies on the day and is tied with Cincinnati's Paul Huber, who also finished the day with four birdies, atop the individual leaderboard. The Trojan senior came out hot as he birdied three of his first five holes before making the turn at 2-under. Vannoy bogeyed the par-5 No. 11 to move to 1-under, but closed the day strong with a birdie on the par-5 No. 18.

Troy was tied for the team lead heading into the final three holes, but the Trojans added four strokes as a team with a pair of bogeys and a double-bogey. Troy is tied with Ole Miss and College of Charleston just two shots back of Middle Tennessee for second and four shots back of Cincinnati for the lead.

Luke Moser is tied for 16th place after shooting a 1-over 73. He made the turn at even despite three birdies on the front nine and got back to 1-under with a birdie on No. 12. Moser double-bogeyed the par-4 No. 17 to slip to 1-over for the day.

Jared Bettcher is lurking around a quality finish as he shot 2-over over on the day and is tied for 31st place; however, Bettcher is just two shots out of the top seven. Calum Masters is tied for 43rd place after shooting 3-over with a pair of birdies and Cam Norman is tied for 52nd place after finishing the day 4-over par.

Troy and Ole Miss will hit the course together for Monday's second record beginning at 11:57 a.m. on the front nine.
