Troy's Winning Streak Snapped at Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. – The Troy volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end on Monday in a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 25-17) loss to Southeastern Louisiana at the University Center.

Troy (5-3) held the Lions to a .117 attack percentage and outhit the hosts with a .141 attack percentage of its own, but couldn't make enough timely plays, especially in the first two sets, which were both close.
Â
Darby Griff led Troy with nine kills and recorded a .304 attack percentage. Jordyn Saulsberry recorded a season-high seven kills and had just one error on 13 attempts for a .462 attack percentage.

Defensively, Griff's six blocks led the way as Troy posted 10.0 total team blocks. Ali Dowdall posted a team-high 21 digs while Karissa Carney had a season-best 13 digs.

Troy trailed by just one, 19-18, late in the first set when Southeastern Louisiana (2-4) scored four straight points to take control on its way to a 25-22 win.Â

The Trojans then took an early 12-6 lead in the second set, but the Lions slowly climbed back, eventually tying the set at 18-18. Then, with the score tied 21-21, Southeastern scored four of six to take a 25-23 win.

Troy came out of the locker room energized and held the Lions to a .000 attack percentage in a dominant third set, beating the Lions 25-16 and seemingly getting back into the match.Â
Â
However, Southeastern hit a match-best .250 in the final set and used a scoring run midway through to clinch the match with a 25-17 win.

Parrie Hartley led Southeastern Louisiana with 17 kills on a match-high 40 attack attempts. Brooke Balser posted a match-high 23 digs from the Lions backline.

The Trojans return to the court this weekend when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Crimson-White Tournament. Troy will take on Alabama on Friday before playing Virginia and Saint Louis on Saturday.
