Troy Soccer Travels to Jaguar Classic with Matches on Friday and Sunday

TROY, Alabama – The Troy soccer team will begin play at the Jaguar Classic, hosted by South Alabama, on Friday with a match against Austin Peay at 4 p.m. The Trojans will wrap up tournament play on Sunday at 11 a.m. and face South Florida, who made the NCAA Tournament last year.

Troy (4-1) comes in with a three-win performance last week as two of the wins came at home in the Trojan Classic. Brittany Yoder scored two goals against UT Martin to give Troy a 2-1 win and was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Brooke McKee also scored two goals in the win over Alabama State.
The Trojans are averaging 17.4 shots per match and have outshot their opponents by 49 shots. Alissa Jones has fired a team-high 34 shots, which also takes the top spot in the Sun Belt.
Jones is also tied for first in the conference with six points. Jones, along with three other Trojans has two goals each this season, which ties them all for the most on the team.
Mikki Lewis has 15 saves on the season, which ties her for second in the Sun Belt. She is also tied for first in the conference with two shutouts.
Austin Peay (1-2) is led by Nicole Wojcik who has two goals and one assist this season. Both her goals and the lone assist came in a season-opener loss to UAB. The Governors lone win came against Chattanooga. Jennifer Smith scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory.
South Florida (3-0) made it to the first round of the NCAA tournament last season and is led by Olivia Chance, who has four goals and two assists this season. The Bulls have outscored their opponents 10-1 this season.
