Men’s Golf Finishes 10th at Shoal Creek Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Troy men's golf team wrapped up a busy four days by shooting an 11-over 299 in Tuesday's final round of the Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by Graeme McDowell; the Trojans finished the event in 10th place.
Including Tuesday's round, the Trojans have played six rounds over the past four days after winning the Sun Belt Preview in Miramar Beach, Fla., over the weekend.
Luke Moser paced the Trojans in the final round as he carded five birdies en route to a 1-under 71. Moser, who finished in a tie for 26th place, reached 2-under during the round after a run of four birdies in five holes.
Troy's top finisher in the event was junior Jared Bettcher as he tied for 16th place after carding a 3-over for the tournament. He wrapped up play with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday as his card featured four birdies on the day.
The Trojans showed their power once again as they played the par 5 holes to a 16-under mark, which tied North Florida for the most in the field and was nine shots better than any other team. Bettcher led the field on the par 5s as he finished 6-under for the tournament, while Cam Norman and Moser were both 5-under.
Norman finished in a tie for 43rd place overall after posting a 5-over 77 to close out the tournament. Clayton Vannoy closed out the final round strong with three birdies over his final four holes; he shot a 78 in the final round and tied for 50th overall. Calum Masters rounded out the field for the Trojans in 64th place.
The Trojans will take a week off before returning to the links at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic on Oct. 11-12 in Duluth, Ga.
