Troy Looking to Rebound at Mercer

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team will look to snap a four-match skid on Tuesday when it travels to Mercer for a 5 p.m. CT contest at Hawkins Arena in Macon, Ga.

Troy (5-6) is coming off of four straight losses, including three at last weekend's Crimson-White Tournament. Troy lost to host Alabama and Saint Louis in three sets and lost to Virginia in four sets.

On the season, Troy leads the Sun Belt averaging 2.63 blocks per set, which has helped the Trojans hold opponents to a .168 attack percentage, the second best mark in the Sun Belt.

Individually, Darby Griff ranks second in the Sun Belt with 1.29 blocks per set. She joins Sara Landis and Leah Causey, who both average 1.00 blocks per game, in the Sun Belt's top 10.

On the back line, Ali Dowdall is averaging 4.80 digs per set, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt.

Offensively, Blair Winston is averaging 3.00 kills per set to lead the Trojans in that category. Griff leads the team with a .309 attack percentage, which also ranks in the Sun Belt's top 10.

Mercer (1-7) has lost five straight matches, including last weekend to Stetson in five sets and FIU in three sets. The Bears, who are playing their first home match of the season, picked up their lone win over Southern during the season's opening weekend.

The Bears went 11-20 overall last season, including a 6-10 mark and a sixth place finish in the SoCon. Mercer was picked to finish seventh in the league in 2015.

Troy is 15-5 in its Division I history against Mercer, including a five-set win in Troy last season. The Trojans have won four straight in the series with Mercer's last win coming in 2009.
