Troy Track and Field Travels Down the Road to South Alabama

MOBILE, Alabama – The Troy Trojans track and field team are set to compete at the USA Invitational hosted by South Alabama this weekend.

The meet is being held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, Ala. giving the Trojans a feel for the setting, as the Sun Belt Championships will be held there in one month. Troy is facing off against sixteen other teams, including conference foes Arkansas State, UL Lafayette and South Alabama.

Competition will kick off today as Riley Schwietz and Alleah Stigarll compete in the women's heptathlon for the Trojans, in their first multi-event of the outdoor season.Â

Schwietz is currently leading the Trojan women in both 100-meter hurdles and women's javelin. The sophomore from Frisco, Texas is coming off strong finishes the previous two weeks, placing third at the UNF Invitational on March 27, setting a new personal record throw of 39.96-meters in women's javelin.

Stigarll who has set two personal records in the long jump and 200-meter dash this season will also compete for Troy in the heptathlon.
Â
Friday's action will begin with the continuation of the multi-events, followed by javelin, triple jump, shot put and men's pole vault beginning at 4 p.m.

Women's pole vault will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, followed by women's 3000-meter steeplechase 45-minutes later to begin a rolling schedule of the meet's running events.
