No. 43 Troy Finishes 13th at Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

WEST POINT, Mississippi – In its final tune up before the Sun Belt Conference Championships, the 43rd-ranked Troy men's golf team finished 13th at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championships, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Old Waverly Golf Club.
The Trojans struggled with consistency throughout the event and shot 20-over par over the three rounds. Tolver Dozier paced Troy as he tied for 22nd place with a 1-over 217 for the tournament following a 1-under 71 in the final round.
Clayton Vannoy recovered from a tough opening round to shoot 1-under in the second round and even par in the final round to finish tied for 45th place overall. Playing as an individual, Wil Clowdus tied with Vannoy in 45th place after carding a 74 in the second round and 1-over 73 in the final round.
Teams played around 27 holes Tuesday after lightning halted play midway through the second round Monday.
Luke Moser slipped into a tie for 55th place after shooting a 7-over 79 in the final round. Moser was 2-over through the first two rounds, but shot 6-over on the back nine in the third round. Jake Tucker finished tied for 70th following a final round 71, while Phillip Brennan shot 79 and tied for 73rd.
The Trojans will have 12 days to regroup before the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Raven Course in Miramar Beach, Fla., on April 19.
