Troy Softball Looks to Continue Win Streak at Texas State

TROY, Alabama – The Troy softball team, who is on a current six-game winning streak, travels to San Marcos, Texas, for a Sun Belt series with Texas State. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game set to begin at noon and the second game is slated to begin at 2 p.m. The series finale will be on Sunday at noon.

Troy (24-17, 7-5 Sun Belt) is led offensively by Hannah Day with a .320 batting average and 34 RBIs. Day has also hit five home runs and is second on the team with eight doubles. In Sun Belt play, Day is batting .343 with a home run, a double and a triple. Day has also knocked in 16 runs in conference play.

Ashley Rainey is tearing the cover off the ball in conference play with a .421 batting average and eight RBIs with three home runs, two doubles and a triple.

Jaycee Affeldt leads the Trojans pitching staff with a 2.59 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 127 innings this season. Affeldt has also made 23 relief appearances and has three saves on the season. In conference play Affeldt has a 1.85 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 45.1 innings of work. Two of her three saves on the season were against Sun Belt opponents.

Texas State (22-18, 6-5 Sun Belt) is led offensively by Kendall Wiley, who is batting .395 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs, which leads the team. Wiley is batting .438 with three doubles and 10 RBIs in conference play. Kortney Koroll also has nine home runs, 26 RBIs and a .330 batting average this season for the Bobcats.

The all-time series between Troy and Texas State is tied at two games, with the Trojans winning the last two meetings, which gave them a series win at the Troy Softball Complex last year.
