No. 50 Troy Men’s Golf Heads to Tiger Invitational

TROY, Alabama – The No. 50 Troy men's golf team heads to the third annual Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner at the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala., Sunday through Tuesday.
The 16-team field includes Akron, No. 8 Auburn, No. 46 Chattanooga, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Kansas State, Memphis, Mercer, No. 45 Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UNCG, Santa Clara, South Alabama, Tulsa and VCU.
The Trojans are coming off a seventh place finish at the competitive Bayou City Collegiate Championship two weeks ago. Tolver Dozier and Jake Tucker both turned in top 25 finishes in the spring opener, while Jared Bettcher tied the Troy school record with a 7-under 65 in the final round.
Bettcher leads the Trojans with a 72.86 stroke average to go along with a pair of top 10 finishes this season; Bettcher shot an opening round 66 last year at the Tiger Invitational. Tucker moved up to second on the squad following his play two weeks ago and will carry a 73.43 average into the Tiger Invitational.
Dozier (74.0), Phillip Brennan (74.07) and Clayton Vannoy (74.40) will comprise the rest of the lineup for Troy. This will be Vannoy's first tournament of the year where his score will be included in the team total as his previous five rounds were all as an individual.
Troy will open on the back nine beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will be paired with UNC Greensboro and Memphis.
