LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – UL Lafayette used small ball and the long ball to defeat Troy 6-2 at M.L. Tigue Moore Field on Saturday. With the win, the Ragin' Cajuns claim the series from the Trojans.
Â
UL Lafayette (9-5, 2-0) tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth on a squeeze bunt. The Cajuns would score the go-ahead run later in the inning. In the sixth, Dylan Butler launched a 2-1 offspeed pitch from reliever Marc Skinner over the wall in left field to give ULL the four run lead.
Â
After UL Lafayette scored in the bottom of the first, Troy (7-7, 0-2) responded quickly. Trevin Hall tripled to start the second and scored on a ground ball from David Hall. The Trojans took the lead in the third when Logan Hill laced a two-out single up the middle scoring Clay Holcomb.
