Troy Baseball Set to Open Sun Belt Conference Play at UL Lafayette

TROY, Alabama – The Troy University baseball team will open Sun Belt Conference action against the league's defending champion – UL Lafayette. The three game series is set to begin in Lafayette on Friday at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3. Saturday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch and Sunday's finale will begin at 1 p.m.
Live stats, live audio and live video for all three games can be found on TroyTrojans.com. WTBF 94.7 FM will carry the games on Friday and Sunday while WTBF 970 AM will have the action on Saturday.
A pair of freshmen right-handers will square off on the mound as Corey Childress (2-0, 1.35) will take on Evan Guillory in Friday's opener. Grant Bennett (2-0, 0.90) and Greg Milhorn (0-0, 4.91) will take the ball on Sunday. Freshman left-hander Gunner Leger (0-0, 2.50) gets the nod on Sunday, Troy has yet to name a starter for the finale.
As a staff, Troy pitchers lead the conference with a 2.59 ERA and have posted a 1.41 combined mark in Friday and Saturday contests. Relievers Lucas Brown and Jeremy McGowan have combined to toss nine scoreless innings over the last five contests.
Trevin Hall leads the Trojans offensively with a .405 average and is tied with David Hall and Matt Sanders with a team-high nine RBIs. Right fielder Logan Hill is batting .350 and scored five runs over the last five games. Clay Holcomb enters the weekend having reached base in 26 of his last 28 games
Nick Thurman paces the Ragin' Cajuns offense with a .457 average while Joe Ribbins leads the club with two home runs and 12 RBIs.
ULL leads the all-time series 12-23 including a 14-7 mark at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
