Trojans Wrap Up Weekend at UNF Invitational, Post Strong Finishes in Field Events

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Troy track and field team wrapped up this weekend's University of North Florida Invitational on Saturday, finishing the last two men's field events.

Freshman Joevar James placed runner up in men's javelin throw with a 57.25-meter throw. Prior to this weekend's meet James was ranked fourth in the Sun Belt in the event, and is also ranked nationally.

Douglas Dyer competed in two events for the Trojans, totaling out his five events total during this meet. A 46.46-meter throw in men's javelin earned him an 8th place finish, while he placed 12th in men's discus with a 34.18-meter toss.

On Friday, the Trojans picked up three top-three finishes in throwing events.

Corina Cox won women's discus with a 50.99-meter throw. At the time of this weekend's meet Cox was ranked second in the conference and 17th in the nation in women's discus.

Demetria Elia's 59.22-meter throw in men's hammer throw earned him a second place finish on Friday morning. Elia was ranked seventh in the Sun Belt in men's hammer throw before this weekend's meet, and also currently nationally ranked.

Riley Schwietz brought home a third place finish and a new personal record in women's javelin with a 39.96-meter throw. Schwietz was ranked eighth in the conference in the event prior to her season best performance this weekend.

The Trojan's next competition will be at the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University on April 3.
