Troy Track and Field Heads to UNF Spring Break Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Troy track and field team continues its outdoor season as it hits the road this weekend for the UNF Spring Break Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

Field events will kick off the meet on Friday, starting at 10 a.m., in the hammer throw, which Allison Taylor and Jaevyn Wortham will be competing in.

In the discus throw, which starts at 4 p.m., on Friday, Taylor will be joined by Jaevyn Wortham and this week's Sun Belt Conference Athlete of the Week, Corina Cox. Last week at the Alabama Relays, Cox set a new personal record in the discus and secured first place with a throw of 52.48 meters.

Aleeah Stigarll and Riley Schweitz will both compete in four events on Friday, including the javelin throw, both the long and high jump, and the 100-meter hurdles. Madison Cooper will join the pair in the high jump.

Alexus Cobbs will also compete in the long jump, while also running in the 200-meter dash at 2:25 p.m. Cameia Alexander will join Cobbs in the 200-meter dash, and will also run in the 100-meter dash prelims at 1 p.m.

Niata Alexander will run in the 400-meter dash. In the indoor season, Alexander earned Third Team All-Conference in the event.

The Trojans will also have four competitors in the pole vault including, Hayley Watts, Emily Tarlton, Carissa Madson and Elizabeth Locklier, which is set to start at noon.

On the men's side, Douglas Dyer will be competing in five events for the Trojans. He is set to first compete in the 110-meter hurdles prelim at noon. He will also compete in the long jump, discus throw, pole vault, and javelin.

Garrison Floyd joins Dyer in the long jump, discus throw and javelin. Another Trojan that will throw in the javelin is Joevar James, which begins at 3 on Saturday.

In the pole vault, C.J. Phillips and Samuel Johnson will compete for Troy with Dyer.

Senior Demetrius Elia is set to compete in the hammer throw.

In running events, Cameron Rice will run in the 200 and 400-meter dash, while Jason Iles will run in the 400-meter hurdles.
