Troy Drops 4-3 Decision at No. 19 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Mississippi – The Troy men's tennis team got a strong performance from the bottom of its lineup in a 4-3 loss at No. 19 Ole Miss on Monday at the Gillom Sports Center.
Troy (5-4) saw its four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 0-3 against ranked teams this season. Ole Miss (4-0) swept the Trojans in doubles play, then won singles matches at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, to clinch the match.
The Trojans, however, did not quit and got three wins from the bottom of the singles lineup. Daniel Bustamante got the first win, defeating Zvonmir Babic at No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).
Giovani Samaha got a ranked win as he cruised past No. 120 Ricardo Jorge at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Pablo Moreno closed the scoring for Troy with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Grey Hamilton at No. 6 singles.
Troy returns to the court on Friday when it travels to Dayton Beach, Fla., for a neutral court match against Florida Gulf Coast. Troy will also take on Stetson and Bethune-Cookman next weekend.
