Troy Track and Field Set to Compete at Middle Tennessee Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Troy University track and field team travels to compete at the 2015 Middle Tennessee Invitational this weekend. The Trojans come off a weekend break after posting several impressive scores in their first meets of the season.

The Trojans will be competing against Belmont, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, and in-state foe UAB.

Saturday's competition will kick off with field events at 10 a.m. beginning with shot put, long jump, pole vault and high jump. Running events will commence at 1 p.m. with the mile run.

In the Trojan's last competition, Samantha Smith posted a new personal best in the women's 3000-meter run with a time of 10:40.39, and a second place finish.
Â
Alexus Cobbs stood out in the field events nabbing two, second place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump.

Notable competitors for this week's competition are Niata Alexander, a freshman who currently holds the fastest time in the Sun Belt in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 55.97 seconds. As well as thrower Corina Cox who is currently ninth in the conference standings with a 13.68-meter shot put performance.
