Troy Set to Host Home Opener

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's tennis team will welcome Southern Miss to the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Saturday for the Trojans' first home match of the season. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m. Following Saturday's match, Troy will travel to face No. 19 Ole Miss on Monday at 3 p.m. at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
Troy (4-3) has won three straight matches, including a pair of Sun Belt victories, the most recent a 4-3 win at Georgia State last Saturday. The Trojans three losses have come to No. 13 Florida, No. 35 Florida State and SMU, all on the road.
Sophomore Hassan Ndayishimye is the reigning Sun Belt Male Tennis Athlete of the Week and has posted a 5-1 singles record to lead the Trojans. Junior Gabriel Dias is 2-1 on the season, including a win over No. 34 Maxx Lipman of Florida.
Southern Miss (3-0) has posted home, 4-0 wins over Jacksonville State, Alcorn State and New Orleans to open the season. After taking on Troy, the Golden Eagles will play Alabama State at 3 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Ole Miss (3-0) enters the weekend ranked No. 19 in the ITA National Team Rankings. The Rebels have defeated No. 70 UCF, No. 13 Florida and No. 29 South Carolina this season. Ole Miss will travel to Chicago next weekend for the prestigious 16-team ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
