OXFORD, Mississippi – Troy rallied from down 13 in the second half to force overtime at Ole Miss, but the Rebels were able to withstand the Trojans' pressure as they escaped with an 83-80 win on Tuesday in the final game that will be played at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Â
Jeremy Hollimon's second half sparked the Troy (5-6) offense, as he totaled a team-high 22 points, 18 of which came in the second half. He ended the night 9-of-16, including a 3-of-5 showing from long range.
Â
Wesley Person and Jordon Varnado each totaled 17 points apiece, while Varnado reeled in a team-high seven rebounds. Hollimon, Person and John Walton III secured six boards. Daniel Peace tallied a career-high nine points, shooting 4-of-5 from the floor.
Â
Varnado opened overtime with a trey, his only of the contest, but free throw shooting by the Rebels enabled them to work their way back into the game. Then, a 3-pointer by Tomasz Gielo tied the game at 78-all with 2:04 on the clock.
Â
After Person made both free throws in a double bonus opportunity, Ole Miss' Sebastian Saiz put the game away with a bucket and a pair of free throws with 33 seconds remaining.
Â
The Trojans got one last Hail Mary shot off at half court as the clock expired, but it knocked off the tip of the rim and Ole Miss escaped with the victory.

Ole Miss' largest lead of the game came at the 7:34 mark when Stefan Moody hit a 3-pointer to give the Rebels a 61-48 advantage.
Â
A burst of small runs allowed Troy to work its way back into the game, but when trailing 63-55, the Trojans were ignited by Hollimon, who sparked a 10-3 run with a 3-pointer to make it a one-possession game, 66-64, with 3:25 remaining in the contest.
Â
Troy took a 70-69 lead, its first since the beginning of the half, with 1:51 on the clock, thanks to a steal by B.J. Miller a layup by Hollimon. Troy and Ole Miss traded buckets – a Holliman 3-pointer and a Moody layup – forcing overtime all knotted up at 73.
Â
Ole Miss (10-2) was led by Gielo and Moody who scored 23 points each. Gielo was 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, while Moody was perfect from the charity stripe (7-of-7) and finished the night 7-of-18 from the floor.
