Troy Women’s Track and Field Returns to UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy University track and field team heads to the UAB Green and Gold Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex for their second visit to the venue in three meets.
The Trojan women make their way to Birmingham coming off a strong performance at the UNC Open, where several Trojans picked up their first wins of the season and set several personal records. The team will face off against 28 others schools including conference foe Georgia State.
Throwers Corina Cox and Jaevyn Wortham will kick off the meet for the Trojans on Saturday in the women's shot put at 9 a.m. Cox placed third in the event last week with a 13.30-meter toss.
Sydney Wright finished the UNC Open with a third place finish in the women's 60-meter dash final, setting a new personal record of 7.74 seconds. She will run in this week's 60-meter dash prelim at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday along with Cameia Alexander and Sierra King.
Other Trojans to watch this weekend are freshman Naomi Sheppard in the women's 400-meter dash, Alexus Cobbs, competing in both long jump and triple jump, and Aleeah Stigarrl who will take part in 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
Saturday's meet will commence with the 5000-meter run at 8 a.m. and will wrap up around 5 p.m. with the women's 4x400-meter relay.
