Trojans Put Win Streak On The Line Against Gardner-Webb

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University soccer team will put its three-match win streak on the line as it heads to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on Gardner-Webb on Friday at 6pm (CT) at Greene-Harbison Stadium. Links to live stats and live video can be found at TroyTrojans.com.
The Trojans (3-2) are coming off a successful 3-0 homestand, defeating Alabama State, Kennesaw State and Tennessee Tech. The victories run Troy's home win streak to six straight and nine of the last ten. On the road this season the squad is 0-2.
Junior midfielder Alissa Jones enters the game after being name Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Mikki Lewis earning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week. Jones scored four goals in the Trojans three games and Lewis led Troy's defense to a trio of shutout victories.
Jones leads the team with four goals and is tied with Annabell Simpson for the team-lead in assists with four. Freshman forward Natalie Melillo has been playing well of late also, scoring a pair of goals in the last three games.
Gardner-Webb (1-3) enters Friday's match having won its first game of the year on Sunday – a 7-2 decision over Chattanooga. The Runnin' Bulldogs own a 4-1 all-time advantage over Troy with the Trojans taking last season's match 3-1.
