Cross Country Squad Returns to South Alabama for Azalea City Classic

Troy, Ala.- The Troy University cross country team hits the road this weekend as they travel to South Alabama to compete at the Azalea City Classic at Mobile County Fairgrounds on Friday. The women's 6k race is set to begin at 5:15 p.m., while the men's 8k will begin at 6 p.m.

"A few of our top runners are sitting out this week," head coach Elliott Blount said. "We have really been training well over the past two weeks. I'm really looking forward to seeing how these athletes compete this week. We are hoping some of those competing take that next step up in an effort to make the conference team at the end of the year."

The Trojans will be facing South Alabama and in-state rival UAB, as well as, conferences foes UL Lafayette and ULM. Other teams at the Classic will be West Florida, Mobile, New Orleans and Spring Hill.

On the women's side, Kristina Bokenfohr, Rae Leach, Stephanie Newman, Julia Ostendorf, Tabitha Parker, Alyssa Staubach and Keaton Wallace are set to compete.

Competing for the men will be Tim Bulger, Dominic Dudai, Caden Ewing, Bairon Fransisco, Joe Giese, Sean Kent and Eric Schueller.
