Trojans Close Regular Season at No. 21 South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy University softball teams closes out the regular season this weekend with a doubleheader at in-state rival No. 21 South Alabama, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Troy (21-28-2, 4-12 SBC) took 2-of-3 against Texas State last weekend. The Trojans dropped game one but bounced back to take the next two. Overall, Troy has not allowed a run in 15 consecutive innings.Â

Ashley Rainey was tremendous for the Trojans against the Bobcats, throwing 11 innings over two games and not allowing a run.
Â
South Alabama (37-10, 14-5 SBC) has already locked up the second seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Championships. The Jaguars are led by two dominant pitchers, in Hannah Campbell and Farish Beard. Campbell currently boasts an ERA of 0.98, while Beard is at 0.99. The duo has struck out 338 batters on the season.

Troy dropped its previous meeting with South Alabama, 9-1, in Troy just over one month ago.

The Trojans can finish anywhere from fifth to eighth in the conference standings, depending on what else happens in the league. Troy will be playing on the opening day of the Sun Belt Championships, although its opponent has not yet been determined.
