Trojans See Several Season Best Performances at Tiger Track Classic

Day 2 Results
AUBURN, Ala. – The second and final day of competition at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn took place on Saturday. The Troy track and field team finished the meet with many high marks and several season best times.
"We're pleased with the teams' efforts today," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "We had numerous personal bests coming off of two weeks of hard work. Both teams put up some good marks which is very positive for this team moving forward."
Corina Cox, the conference leader in the discus throw, saw continued success in Saturday's competition, clinching a second place finish with a 48.99-meter throw.
The Trojan men's 4x100 relay team made up of Benjamin Martin, Jordan Landburg, Thaddeus Curtis and Phillip Pritchett placed third in their race. The team is currently ranked first in the Sun Belt Conference and 24th in the NCAA. Today's time is almost half a second faster than the second place team in the Sun Belt rankings.
The team members also saw success individually on Saturday. Martin placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.20 seconds, while Landburg was right behind in eighth place with a time of 21.32 seconds. Landburg set a new season best time and is ranked eighth in the conference for the event.
Curtis, the current conference leader in the 110-meter hurdle, finished in eleventh place with a time of 14.81 seconds. Pritchett ran in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.99 seconds for a tenth place finish.
Chaun Lynn, Landburg, Cameron Rice, and Curtis competed in the men's 4x400 relay finishing in sixth place with a time of 3:13.35.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Tiffany Slater, Dallas Worthy, Taylor McDonald and Aleeza Kempton completed in fifth place with a season best time of 3:53.39. The team is currently ranked fourth in the conference.
Adria Hill, Sierra King, Slater and Alexus Cobbs took part in the 4x100-meter relay finishing with a season best time of 48.07 seconds for eighth place.
Julia Ostendorf competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase for the first time this season, finishing in 11:23.42 for a fourth place finish and a new Troy University record. Ostendorf also ran the 5000-meter on Friday finishing in eighth place.
Tim Bulger ran in the 3000-meter run finishing in seventh place with a time of 9:07.29. Bulger set a new season best time in 5000-meter run on Friday. Before yesterday's event he was ranked eighth in the conference standings.
In field events, Zach Douglas took a seventh place finish in the shot put with a 15.68-meter throw. Douglas is ranked fourth in the conference.
On Friday, Demetris Elia finished in eighth place in the hammer throw, and Delonte Martistee competed in the triple jump with a eighth place finish as well.
The Trojans will continue training during the week before heading to Athens, Ga. next weekend for the Spec Town Relays.
