AUBURN, Ala. – The Troy track and field team will travel to Auburn on Friday to compete in the Tiger Track Classic. It is the first of two meets for the Trojans in Auburn.
Live results will be available on the track and field schedule page on TroyTrojans.com.
"We look forward to getting back at it again after a week off," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "This allowed us more training days and we look for this to show its benefits in the competition. After a great showing at Alabama Relays we expect it to continue. As good as the competition was there is only gets better as we start closing in on our championship season."
Competition will begin at the Hutsell-Rosen Track on Friday with the men's hammer throw starting at 2 p.m. The men's 5000-meter run will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the women's will start at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the remaining field events will begin at 11 a.m. while the running events will kick off at noon.
The Trojans are coming off a one week break in the schedule, but have taken advantage of the weekend off of competition and are looking to continue their success, as well as moving up in the conference and national ranks.
Jordan Landburg is coming off a strong performance at the Alabama Relays. His time of 46.84 seconds in the 400-meters has moved him into the third fastest time in Troy history in the event, as well as a second place standing in the NCAA and first in the conference. Landburg was also named last week's Sun Belt Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week.
Corina Cox will compete in the women's shot put and discus on Friday. Cox is currently ranked first in the Sun Belt conference and tenth in the NCAA in discus. She is also ranked thirteenth in the conference in shot put for her performance at the Alabama Relays.
Troy's men will also perform in several field events on Friday. Zach Douglas is ranked fourth in the Sun Belt in shot put. Demetria Elia, who will compete in the first event on Friday, is seventh in the conference in hammer throw.
Troy's distance runners will also look to move up in the rankings on Friday. Julia Ostendorf and Tim Bulger are both ranked eighth in their respective standings in the Sun Belt for the 5000-meter run.
