JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis picked up a 4-0 win over Jacksonville State on Wednesday at the JSU Tennis Courts. Troy now has a quick turnaround as the Trojans travel to UCF on Friday.
Troy (7-14) got wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to open the match, dropping just a combined four games. Mansingh Athare and Tommy Cundy won at No. 3, 8-1, just before Sami Ghorbel and Pablo Moreno won at No. 1, 8-1.
In singles play, Troy cruised to three wins to close out the match. Gabriel Sciacca Dias picked up the first, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Daniel Bustamante then won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 to give Troy a 3-0 lead.
Ghorbel clinched the match for the Trojans with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Dylan Gee at No. 2 singles. Jacksonville State (7-11) had won the first set in two of the three matches that were unfinished. Full results are below.
The win by the Trojans snaps a five-game winning streak by the Gamecocks who had won seven of their last eight matches as well.
The Trojans return to the court at 1 p.m. CDT on Friday when they travel to take on UCF in Orlando. Troy has just three regular season matches remaining before the Sun Belt Championships begin on April 17.
