Troy Falls in Sun Belt Semifinals

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Troy women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 66 Georgia State in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Championships on Saturday at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans.
Troy (15-8), the tournament's fourth seed, sees its season come to an end with just its second loss in the last 12 matches. Georgia State, the tournament's top seed, moves to face the winner of UT Arlington and South Alabama in Sunday's championship match.
Georgia State (11-8) won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take the opening point. Troy's No. 1 pair of Trang Huynh and Anja Cosovic were up 6-3 on Abigaial Tere-Apisah and Masa Grgan, the nation's 20th-ranked doubles pair, when the doubles point was clinched.
The Panthers then won three singles matches at the bottom of the lineup to take the 4-0 victory. GSU win at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 5 to clinch the match and a trip into Sunday's final.
In matches that were unfinished, at No. 1 Huynh trailed 20th-ranked Tere-Apisah, 7-5, 5-2, and finished the season 18-4. At No. 2, Lyubov Dorofeeva played in her final match as a Trojan and was down 7-6 (6), 2-1.
At No. 3 singles, Troy's Anja Cosovic was up 2-6, 6-1, 3-2 and finished the season18-3 in singles play.
