Final Results
MADISON, Miss. – Jared Bettcher shot a 2-over 146 to lead the Troy men's golf team to a tie for 10th in the rain-shortened Reunion Intercollegiate which concluded on Tuesday at the Reunion Golf and Country Club.
Bettcher tied for seventh overall after he shot a 72 in a second round that featured four birdies and four bogeys. It was the second top 10 finish of the season for the freshman who entered the week leading the Sun Belt Conference in the latest Golf Stat comparative rankings.
Troy shot a 310 in the opening round that spanned Monday and Tuesday due to heavy rains that pounded the course before the start of the tournament. The Trojans rebounded with a 299 in the final round thanks to a 1-under par from Jake Tucker.
Tucker, who tied for 15th overall, birdied four holes during his round, including three on the front nine. Wil Clowdus also had a solid final round as he shot a 2-over after posting an 82 in the opening round; he sank an eagle on the par-5 No. 17.
Phillip Brennan tied for 57th place after shooting 159 over the two rounds and Luke Moser finished in 68th after shooting 166.
Mississippi State held off No. 15 Vanderbilt and No. 10 Houston to win the team title by four and five shots, respectively. Central Arkansas' Pep Angles won individual medalist honors after shooting 3-under.
The Trojans now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Championship next Monday through Wednesday at the Grand Bear Golf Course in Saucier, Miss.
