Trojans Begin Season at Jaguar Invitational

Meet Schedule
MOBILE, Ala.- The Troy University men's and women's track and field teams will kick off their 2014 outdoor season with their first meet this weekend, the Jaguar Opener hosted by South Alabama.
"Both teams are excited to start the outdoor season at last," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "As the weather has gotten better we were putting better workouts in each day."
Field events will begin with the men's hammer throw at 1 p.m. Running events will get started at 2 p.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles.
"The outdoor events play into the hands of our team's talents with the long throws, long hurdles, relays and the larger group of events," Lancaster said. "The past trips to the South Alabama facility have been good to us. We always perform well there and enjoy the friendly rivalry between the two teams. This is just what we are looking for to open the season. With so many newcomers waiting patiently to test their talents we see this as a great starting point."
The Trojans will face Sun Belt Conference foes USA and UL-Lafayette. Alcorn State, Southeastern Louisiana and Tulane will also be present.
The teams are excited to begin the season while getting some experience in outdoor competition in as well.
