Trojans to Play First Mid-Week Game, at Georgia Tech Wednesday

ATLANTA, Ga. – Troy softball makes the quick trip out to Georgia Tech to take on the Yellow Jackets at 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at Shirley Clements Mewborn Field for its first mid-week game of the season.

Troy (9-9-2) had a successful weekend at the Eagle Classic, hosted by Georgia Southern, going 4-1. The Trojans defeated former Sun Belt foe Middle Tennessee twice, Tennessee State once and Georgia Southern once. Jaycee Affeldt was solid in the circle, going 3-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 24 strikeouts. She also tossed her first career no-hitter, against Tennessee State. Michelle Phelps was Troy's top performer at the plate, hitting .538 with one home run and five RBIs on the weekend.
Several Trojans are currently ranked in the top-5 in the Sun Belt Conference in a variety of statistical categories. Phelps currently leads the league with 22 RBIs, while Erica Davis's seven doubles are also tops in the SBC. Sara Mock is third in with a 1.35 ERA. As a team, Troy's 2.00 ERA is second best in the Sun Belt.
Georgia Tech (11-4) went 1-2 against Boston College last weekend, opening up ACC play. Hayley Downs is currently leading the Yellow Jackets, hitting .436 on the season. Maddie Lionberger and Alysha Rudnik each have 15 RBIs to pace the squad.
Troy is 12-11 all-time against Georgia Tech, including 8-6 in Atlanta. The last meeting came during the 2007 season, with Troy defeating Georgia Tech 4-2.
