Troy Softball Drops Close Contest at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Troy softball team (9-10-2) dropped a close game at Georgia Tech (12-4), 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Shirley Clements Mewborn Field.

Sara Mock got the start for the Trojans and allowed just one run on five hits in four innings. Jaycee Affeldt took over in the fifth, allowing one run on two hits in two innings, taking the loss.

Kylie Kleinschmidt earned the win for the Yellow Jackets after allowing one run on six hits.

Georgia Tech got on the board first, picking up one in the second on a solo shot by Karly Fullem.

Troy would battle back to tie the score up in the fourth. Becca Hartley led off the fourth with a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mackenzie Kayler. Hartley would then move over to third on a groundout and then came home on an infield single by Ebony Wright.

The Yellow Jackets scored the game-winner in the fifth on a double by Alysha Rudnik.

Wright was strong for the Trojans, picking up three of Troy's six hits on the day. Kacie McAllister, Erica Davis and Heather Johnston each added a hit.

Next up for the Trojans is a trip to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Knights Spring Fling. There, Troy will take on Bowling Green, Penn, UT Martin, Western Carolina and UCF.
