Trojans Return Home to Face No. 13/12 South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – After more than a month on the road, the Troy softball team returns home to take on in-state rival, No. 13/12 South Alabama in a Sun Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Troy (14-18-2, 0-3 SBC) enters the game after dropping its opening series with Western Kentucky last weekend. The Trojans ran into a tough pitching staff for the Hilltoppers and dropped all three games.

The Trojans are led this season by Ebony Wright's .346 batting average. Michelle Phelps leads the team with 23 RBIs and is tied with Amanda Winters for the team lead with four home runs. Jaycee Affeldt has been Troy's top starter in the circle, posting a 2.47 ERA with 114 strikeouts on the season.

South Alabama (25-3, 3-0) enters the game ranked inside the top-15 in both the ESPN/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and has won nine straight. Last weekend, the Jaguars swept UT Arlington.

Farish Beard has been South Alabama's top performer all season, posting an ERA of 0.41 on the season with 140 strikeouts.

Troy is 7-13 all-time against South Alabama, but is 6-5 at home.
