BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Troy softball team (14-18-2, 0-3 SBC) dropped the series finale with Western Kentucky (19-10-1, 3-0 SBC), 5-0, at the WKU Softball Field on Sunday afternoon.

Jaycee Affeldt took the loss after allowing three earned runs and seven hits over six innings. Affeldt also struck out nine.

Emily Rousseau was dominant in the circle for the Hilltoppers, allowing no hits and walking just one in seven innings.

For the third straight game, Western Kentucky picked up one run in the first. The Hilltoppers then plated three in the third and one in the fourth to get the 5-0 win.

Troy threatened in the seventh, with Kacie McAllister reaching on an error. Amanda Winters then walked, but neither would cross the plate.

The Trojans play their next six games at home, beginning with in-state rival South Alabama on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
