Trojans Drop Tight Match to South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday as South Alabama defeated the Trojans, 4-3, at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Troy (5-12) closes its four-match homestand with a 3-1 record and will have a quick turnaround with a road match at Florida A&M on Sunday.
The Trojans lost the doubles point as South Alabama (12-6) won at No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the opening point. Troy's Garbiel Sciacca Dias and Pablo Moreno were up at No. 1 but didn't finish because the match was clinched.
In singles play, the Jaguars picked up a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 4, but Mansingh Athare got the Trojans on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. South Alabama's pair of regionally-ranked players, Danile Leitner and Tuki Jacobs, then got wins at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, to clinch the match for South Alabama.
Troy closed the match with three-set wins at No. 2 by Dias, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9) and at No. 5 by Moreno, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Complete results are below.
