CONWAY, S.C. – The Trojans (14-14-2) picked up a pair of losses at the Chanticleer Showdown on Saturday, falling to Fordham (11-14), 9-1, and No. 18/21 Minnesota (19-3), 2-0.

The Trojans did see some solid performances on the day. Amanda Winters picked up a pair of this in the opening game, against Fordham, while Jaycee Affeldt was strong in the circle against the ranked Golden Gophers.

Troy finishes competition at the Chanticleer Showdown on Sunday with a rematch against Minnesota at 9 a.m.

Troy 1, Fordham 9 (5 inn.)

The Trojans ran into a solid Rams team in their first game of the day, falling 9-1 in five innings.

The Rams got on the board early, scoring four in the first and two in the second. They would add another in the fourth and then finish the game with two in the ffith.

Troy picked up its lone run in the third. Ebony Wright singled to left field and then stole second. She would then come home on a single by Kacie McAllister.

Sara Mock took the loss for the Trojans after allowing four runs and recording just one out. Rachel Rigney came in to finish off the game, pitching 4.1 innings.

Golden Gopher pitching was strong in Troy's second game of the day, using three pitchers and holding Troy to three hits.

Affeldt got the start in the circle in game two, allowing five hits and two runs in a complete game effort.

Minnesota struck first, plating one on an RBI triple in the third. The Golden Gophers would add another in the sixth on a solo shot.

The Trojans would threaten in the sixth, with a trio of singles by Taylor Smartt, Wright and McAllister, but could not get one across the plate.
