TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Paced by a pair of 4-under rounds from Tolver Dozier and Jake Tucker, the Troy men's golf team jumped five spots on the leaderboard at the Seminole Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for fifth place.
The Trojans shot 5-under as a team over Saturday's 36 holes, which was the best score of the day by any of the 13 teams in the field. No. 12 Florida State was 4-under on the day and No. 29 South Florida was 3-under.
"We had a tough day yesterday, but the way our guys came out and played today showed them how good they can be," head coach Matt Terry said. "We played 36 holes better than anyone else on the golf course today and there were five top 60 teams in the field. Our guys could have easily folded after the opening round, but they came back and fought hard and impressed a lot of people."
Freshman Jared Bettcher continues to turn in solid performance after solid performance as he shot matching 1-under 71s on Saturday to finish in a tie for 12th place overall. Bettcher sank six birdies in his final round and finished with 13 in the tournament – the sixth most in the field.

Competing as an individual, Luke Moser tied for 68th after shooting an 80 and a 76 to close out his tournament.

North Carolina finished one shot ahead of Troy while No. 54 Mississippi State finished in a tie with the Trojans, who entered the week ranked 65th in the country.
