Softball Hits the Road to Take On Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Troy softball travels to in-state rival Auburn on Wednesday to take on the Tigers for the second time this season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field.

Troy (13-11-2) went 4-1 last weekend at the UCF Knights Spring Fling. The Trojans won their first four games on the weekend before falling in a close one to UCF.
Jaycee Affeldt was tremendous, especially on the first day, pitching 12 innings of relief over two games. She picked up 10 strikeouts against Penn on Friday, setting a new career-high and becoming the first Trojan with double-digit strikeouts in a game since 2010.
Ebony Wright earned Sun Belt Player of the Week last week after hitting .611 over six games.
Wright currently leads the team with a .379 batting average. Michelle Phelps leads the team with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
Auburn (19-4-1) went 2-1 last weekend against LSU and has won 7-of-8 games overall. The Tigers are led by Kasey Cooper with a .409 batting average and six home runs. Branndi Melero leads the team with 37 RBIs.
The Trojans met the Tigers already this season, with the game ending in a 5-5 tie. The game was the first played in the newly renovated Troy Softball Complex.
