BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Trojans wrapped up competition at the Samford Multi and Invitational on Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Several athletes saw new personal bests and a few are now seeded in the conference standings.

In the 400-meter dash Dallas Worthy and Taylor McDonald not only set new season-best times, but are also both in the top-20 in Sun Belt standings. Worthy placed 13th with a time of 57.44, and is now third in the conference. McDonald completed in 59.43 and is sitting 15th in the conference in the event.

Julia Ostendorf set a new season-best for the mile run with a time of 5:18.94. Her time of 18:21.64 in the 5000-meter on Friday placed her eighth in the Sun Belt, and she is also sitting 19th in the conference for her 3000-meter performance at the Kentucky Invitational earlier in the season.

The 4x400 relay team of Aleeza Kempton, Worthy, Tiffany Slater and Taylor McDonald set a new season record with a time of 4:00.68. This time places them eighth in the Sun Belt Conference standings.

Although several Trojans saw their best times of the year, Coach Jill Lancaster is hoping to see improvement in the performances of the team as whole. "The meet was more challenging than anticipated. We saw some solid marks, but we saw some others that fell short of expectations," Lancaster said.

This was the last regular season meet before the Conference Championship. Lancaster is planning on using the following weeks to prepare the team for a standout performance.

"We must take today and improve on it with solid training over the next weeks leading into the Sun Belt Championships," said Lancaster. "Even though many had improved efforts, the moral victories are not enough."
