TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team welcomes Georgia State to Trojan Arena on Saturday in what will mark Troy's annual Play 4Kay game. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m. and fans are asked to wear pink to the game.
The game follows the Troy men's basketball game as the men also host Georgia State in a 5 p.m. game on ESPN2. In addition to the excitement during the games, the Sun Belt Conference is hosting its #NOLABound Tailgate Tour inside the arena's practice court beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Live stats, live video and a FREE live audio broadcast will be available through TroyTrojans.com. Fans in the Troy area can also hear the game on WTBF 94.7 FM. For live, in-game updates on Twitter, follow @TroyWomensBBall.
Troy (8-14, 4-7) has won four of its last six games, but is coming off of a tough 93-66 loss at WKU on Wednesday night. In that game, the Trojans fell into a 30-point first half hole and couldn't recover.
The Trojans will be happy to return home where they have won three straight, including last week's 78-53 win over South Alabama and the previous week's 83-65 win over Sun Belt leader Arkansas State.
In their game at WKU on Wednesday, Joanna Harden led the Trojans in scoring with 26 points in what was her eighth straight game with at least 20 points. Harden is now averaging 25.5 points per game, the fourth best mark in the country.
In her last home game, Harden scored her 1,000th career point, becoming just the third player in Troy history to do so in two seasons. Harden's season scoring average would be the best in school history and her 19.5 career scoring average would be the second best.
Troy is still averaging a Sun Belt best 79.6 points per game along with giving up 72.5 defensively over its last six games. In its current three-game home winning streak, Troy is allowing opponents to score just 64.3 per game with a 33 percent field goal percentage.
Georgia State (10-12, 6-4) was scheduled to host Texas State on Thursday, but the game was postponed due to poor weather conditions in Atlanta. The Panthers have lost their last two games, including an 80-75 decision at home against Arkansas State last Saturday.
The Panthers are led by Kendra Long's 13.1 points per game and Alisha Andrews who leads the Sun Belt in assists (4.9), steals (2.5) and assist-turnover ratio (1.6).
Troy and Georgia State met in Atlanta on New Year's Day in the Sun Belt opener for both teams with the Panthers winning that game 85-77. The game was tied 75-75 with 1:00 remaining when Georgia State scored four points in five seconds to spark a 10-2 run to close the game.
Troy is 5-22 all-time against its former Atlantic Sun rival, including a 4-8 mark at home. Nineteen of the series 27 meetings came between 1997 and 2005 when the two were both members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
