NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Troy University track and field competed at the TSU Invitational on Saturday at the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track, with several Trojans posting season-best results. Just one meet remains for the Trojans before the 2014 Sun Belt Championships.
"Even with the snow and missed days our team came to compete today," said head coach Jill Lancaster. "Our coaching staff can see progress, even on those that did not see it in the final results. For now we'll go back and review video to be ready for the next meet, our last before the Sun Belt Championships."
Julia Ostendorf took eighth in the 1-mile run, finishing in 5:21.79, her fastest time of the year. Sara Lane placed 19th in the event at 5:32.12.
Both Lacey Marcus and Riley Schwietz qualified for the finals in the 55-meter hurdles. Schwietz went on to take sixth in the finals at 8.53 seconds, while Marcus placed 10th at 8.73 seconds. Schwietz's time moves her into the top-10 in the Sun Belt Conference in the event.
Adria Hill narrowly missed qualifying or the finals in the 55-meter dash, taking 13th at 7.42 seconds, while Marsel Mosley placed 17th in the 800-meters with a time of 2:28.46.

In the field events, Aleeah Stigarll earned 12th in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters. Madison Cooper placed 17th in the event with a jump of 1.48 meters. Stigarll would go on to take ninth in the long jump at 5.50 meters, while Cobbs placed 12th in the triple jump with a leap of 11.33 meters.
Hayley Watts took home fifth place in the pole vault with a leap of 3.11 meters, her best vault of the season. Corina Cox picked up a ninth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.77 meters. Allison Taylor took 13th in the weight throw at 12.60 meters.
Troy's distance medley squad of Ostendorf, Lane, Tabitha Parker and Tina Bokenfohr placed seventh with a time of 12:44.02. The 4x400 meter relay team of Worthy, McDonald, Aleeza Kempton and Sierra King took eighth at 4:01.81, while Slater, Amiracle Watson, Schweitz and Stigarll placed 10th at 4:09.89.
