10/23/2014 2:34:00 PM | Soccer
TROY, Alabama – The Troy University soccer team will travel to Little Rock, Ark., for a Friday night bout with UALR at 7 p.m. at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex before heading to Jonesboro to round out the regular season at 1 p.m. on Sunday against Arkansas State.
Sun Belt Conference Tournament seeding is on the line as the Trojans (12-5, 4-3 Sun Belt) currently sit fifth in the standings but could finish as high as second.
UALR (11-5-1, 2-4-1) is currently eighth and battling to maitain the final tournament spot. UALR defeated in-state rival Arkansas State, 2-1, on Saturday before falling in a 2-0 decision to Texas on Monday. Troy is 6-3 all-time against UALR and has won the last five meetings.
Troy and UALR have both set program records for wins in a season. Troy defeated Georgia Southern on Sunday to earn its 12th victory of the year.
Arkansas State (4-12, 1-6) is currently bringing up the bottom of the conference table. The Red Wolves have lost six of their last seven matches and eight of their last 10. The Trojans are 5-4 all-time against Arkansas State.
Individually, Chelsey Williams enters the weekend with 23 career goals and is one goal shy of passing Jill Pinder for the most in Troy history. With her 17th career goal on Sunday, Alissa Jones moved up to fifth all-time in Troy history; the goal was also her ninth of the season, fourth most on Troy's single-season list.
Freshman goalkeeper Mikki Lewis has a 0.99 goals against average, which, if it stands, would be the best single season mark for a Troy keeper.
Live video and live stats will be available for the matches via ualrtrojans.com and astateredwolves.com.
