Hoops Fan Day Set For Saturday

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's and women's basketball teams will host fan day this Saturday prior to the football game against Appalachian State. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Trojans, pick up this year's posters and get autographs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., on tailgate terrace.

The men's squad, which returns just two letterwinners from last season, has a mere seven years of Division I experience on the court this season. The squad boasts nine newcomers and three redshirt players.

The men open their 2014-15 season with an exhibition game on Thursday, November 6, against West Florida. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m., and will be part of a doubleheader with the women's team, who is hosting Alabama-Huntsville at 5:15 p.m.

The regular season for the men begins on Friday, November 14, at 7 p.m. as they host Brewton-Parker College. The next game on the home slate is on Monday, November 17, against SEC opponent Ole Miss.

The women's basketball team is looking to continue to improve after they finished in a tie for fifth place in the Sun Belt last season, its best finish since 2008-09. Troy has led the Sun Belt in scoring in each of the last two seasons, including last year when the Trojans averaged 80.4 points per game, the 15th best mark in the country

Troy returns seven letterwinners from last season, including second team All-Sun Belt selection Ashley Beverly-Kelley, who will mix with five newcomers.

The women open their regular season on Friday, November 14, at Auburn before traveling to Clemson two days later. The Trojans' regular season home opener will be on Friday, November 21, against Southeastern Louisiana.
