Troy (5-12, 1-5) is coming off of an 87-75 win over UL Lafayette on Saturday, snapping an eight-game losing streak. The Trojans played one of their best defensive efforts of the season, holding the Ragin' Cajuns to 29 percent shooting, the lowest by a Troy opponent this season.
Troy also dominated inside as they outscored ULL in the paint, 46-24, outrebounded the Cajuns, 53-41, and posted a season-high nine blocks.
The strong defensive showing was accompanied by an 87-point offensive effort, Troy's first Sun Belt game with over 80 points this season. Troy is now averaging 79.8 points per game on the season, still the best in the Sun Belt (28th in the NCAA).
Troy also ranks in the Sun Belt top three in rebounding (44.2), assists (13.5), steals (10.3), blocks (5.1) and turnover margin (+2.24).
Joanna Harden leads the Trojans offensively, averaging 24.8 points per game. That scoring average is the fourth best in the nation, and the best in the Sun Belt by 6.5 points over second place (18.3 ppg). Harden has scored 20-plus in 13 of 17 games this season, including in both last week leading to Harden being named the Sun Belt Player of the Week.
UT Arlington (1-15, 0-5) has lost five straight, that after starting the season with 10 straight losses. The Mavericks lone win of the season came at home against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Mavericks haven't played in a week, and despite their record, have been closing to winning their last two conference games. UTA fell at Texas State, 68-60, a week ago and lost at UL Lafayette, 66-64, before that.
Troy is 0-1 all-time against UT Arlington, with the lone meeting coming in 2005-06 at the UCF Holiday Classic where the Mavericks won 65-54.
