CLEMSON, S.C. – The Troy volleyball team finishes the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend at the Clemson Classic. The Trojans will take on Delaware on Friday at 3:30 p.m. CDT before playing Clemson and Alabama on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
Live stats for all matches can be found at ClemsonTigers.com or through TroyTrojans.com. A free webcast of Troy's game against Clemson will also be available at ClemsonTigers.com.
Troy (5-6) is coming off of a home sweep over Alabama State on Tuesday. Prior to that, the Trojans went 1-2 at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic. The Trojans defeated Georgia Tech in the tournament and lost a narrow, five-set match to Connecticut before losing in three-sets to St. John's.
Marija Zelenovic leads the Troy offense with a 3.41 kills/set average, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt. True freshman Kiah Cheatham owns the top attack percentage on the team at .278.
Courtney Cohen ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 4.59 digs/set average while her 188 digs on the season are the most in the conference. The senior libero currently sits with 1,707 career digs, just 22 shy of setting the Troy all-time career record.
Delaware (6-5) comes into the weekend after a five-set loss at Villanova on Tuesday. The Blue Hens went 3-0 at their own Delaware Invitational last weekend, defeating Rutgers, Sacred Hear and Furman.
Clemson (5-3) defeated UCF in five sets, but fell to Georgia State in four sets last weekend in a pair of matches in Atlanta. The Tigers are 3-0 at home after defeating South Carolina, Winthrop and Furman in the Big Orange Bask two weeks ago.
Alabama (8-2) comes into the weekend on a six-match winning streak after going 4-0 at its own Hampton Inn Bash last weekend. The Crimson Tide defeated Nicholls State, Arkansas State, South Alabama and UT-Martin.
During its Division I history (1993-present), Troy is 0-5 against Alabama, but the two sides haven't met since 1998. Troy has never played Delaware or Clemson.
