Troy Volleyball Sweeps Alabama State at Home

TROY, Ala. – The Troy volleyball team used a balanced effort to sweep Alabama State at home on Tuesday, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19).
Troy (5-6) moved to 2-0 at home after holding the Hornets to a .058 attack percentage. Darby Griff led the Trojans with eight kills and just two errors for a .375 attack percentage. Kiah Cheatham hit .429 with seven kills and just one error while Katie Feemster hit .714 with six kills and one error on seven swings.
Courtney Cohen led the Trojans with nine digs, moving her career total to 1,707 digs, just 22 shy of setting of the Troy all-time career record. Kayla Pickart posted eight digs.  Griff posted a team-high six blocks while Pickart posted five.
Alexandra Alexander recorded 21 assists while Bruna Souza recorded 11.
Troy held Alabama State (5-8) to a -.080 attack percentage in the first set as the Trojans cruised to a 25-15 opening-set win. The second set was much tighter with five ties as Troy won 25-22.
The Trojans held ASU under .100 again with a .075 attack percentage in the final set on their way to a 25-19 win and the sweep.
Alabama State was led by Rachel Smith who posted seven kills while Brooke Beasley had 11 digs and Luiza Griz had 10 digs.
The Trojans return to the floor this weekend at the Clemson Classic where they will take on Delaware, Clemson and Alabama.
