Trojans Cruise Past Jacksonville State

TROY, Ala. – On a rainy afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, the Troy women's tennis team played singles first and cruised to a 6-0 win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday.

Troy (7-4) and Jacksonville State (4-7), in an effort to beat the rain, agreed to play singles first and play doubles if necessary. The Trojans were able to sweep through singles play, finishing just as the rain began to fall.

The Trojans, now winners of three straight and owners of a 3-0 home record, won five of the six matches in straight sets. The first winner was Olivia Brooke Durden who moved to 3-1 in dual matches with a 6-1, 6-0 win at sixth singles.

Anja Cosovic and Lyubov Dorofeeva also posted perfect second sets as Cosovic won 6-2, 6-0 at third singles and Dorofeeva won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles.

After playing a tough first set, Troy's Karoline Grymel cruised to another straight-set win for the Trojans, 7-5, 6-2 at first singles. Candela Munoz Giron won at fourth singles in straight sets as well, 6-4, 6-1.

Rosaura Ramirez-Vega won the lone three-set match of the day at fifth singles, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7). Complete results are below.

The Trojans return to the court on Friday when they travel to Montgomery, Ala., to take on Alabama State and Alabama A&M.
