Trojans Extend Streak to 10, Blank Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy women's tennis team ran its current winning streak to 10 matches with a 4-0 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on the road on Saturday. Troy is now 4-0 in Sun Belt matches and 7-2 in matches against fellow ITA Southern Region teams.

Troy (14-4) got an impressive showing from Rosaura Ramirez-Vega and Hannah Toro in doubles play to open the match. The duo dominated the 79th-ranked pair in the nation, defeating Melissa Burckhartt and Juliette Clement, 8-0.

Candela Munoz Giron and Anja Cosovic remained perfect in doubles play this season with an 8-5 win at third doubles to clinch the opening point for Troy. During its current 10-match winning streak, Troy is now 22-2 in doubles matches.

Munoz Giron and Cosovic each carried the momentum over into singles play as the two open a 3-0 lead for the Trojans. Munoz Giron was the first off as she won 6-4, 6-1 at fifth singles, marking her seventh straight win.

Cosovic followed shortly after with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at third singles, pushing her to 13-5 in singles play this spring.

Senior Karoline Grymel clinched the match for the Trojans at first singles, taking her eighth straight match, by defeating Sophie Van den Aarssen in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Complete results for the match are below. The Trojans will look to extend their streak to 11 matches on Tuesday when they travel to take on Florida A&M.
