Troy Rodeo Looking to Continue Streak

SCOOBA, Miss. – The Troy men's and women's rodeo teams will hit the road Thursday for its second-straight week of rodeo action at the East Mississippi Community College rodeo Thursday through Sunday.
The women are coming off a win a last week's Boll Weevil Stampede, the fourth of the 2012-13 season. They enter the weekend with a firm lead in the Ozark Region with 1,903 points over second-place Southern Arkansas, who has 1,590.
Much of Troy's success this year has came in the goat tying event, where three Trojans currently sit within the top-five in points. Kassandra Smith its second with a 520-point total, while Kesia Smith sits third with 410 points. Lanie Culligan enters fifth in the region with a 295-point total.
Two Trojan Spurs enter in the top-15 in breakaway roping, as Kelsey Kennemer sits second with 353 points, while Anna Niewoehner is 15th with 120 points. Morgan Sellars enters as Troy's lone competitor in the top-15 in barrel racing, with a 12th place standing with 140 points.
The men enter the weekend 10th in the Ozark Region with 760 points, with Zack Mabry leading the way of all the individual competitors. Mabry enters the weekend third in team roping with 425 points, paired with Tennessee-Martin's Ben Walker. Nelson Wyatt sits 14th in tie down roping with 145 points.
Action in Mississippi will begin Thursday night with the opening round, and will conclude on Saturday with the short-go.
