Troy Continues Road Trip with Midweek Contest at Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a 1-5 weekend at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic, Troy looks to snap a five-game losing streak by facing Texas State at the Bobcat Softball Field in San Marcos, Texas on Wednesday.
The Bobcats (3-19) and the Trojans (11-15) will meet for the first time on the diamond with first pitch set for 3 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, as both teams enter play looking to get back on the winning track. Texas State dropped two games to Texas over the weekend, while Troy is looking to snap its longest losing skid of the season.
Playing without catcher Hannah Renn for the final four games of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic, Troy lost three one-run games over the tournament's three days and the Trojans were defeated by host Texas Tech, twice, in five innings.
At the plate, Caitlin Ortiz continues to lead Troy as the senior leads the Sun Belt with a .419 batting average and a .521 on-base percentage. Junior Kacie McAllister enters play with a 10-game hitting streak; the longest streak by a Trojan this season. The Dothan, Ala., native made starts at catcher, first base, left field and right field in Troy's last eight games. Chandler Griffin's 28 hits lead the team and the Sun Belt, while the freshman also leads the team with 20 runs scored.
Texas State freshman pitcher Ashley Wright has earned all three wins for the Bobcats this season and has a 4.75 ERA with 20 strikeouts. In 22 games, freshman Kellie Baker leads Texas State with a .316 batting average and 24 hits.
After Wednesday's contest, Troy wraps up its 12-game road trip by jumping back into conference play at North Texas in Denton, Texas. The Trojans were swept by the Mean Green last season at the Troy Softball Complex. Troy and North will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will wrap up the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
