Miscues Haunt Troy in Loss at Texas State

The Bobcats (4-19) was the beneficiaries of three unearned runs, four Troy errors and seven walks issued by Trojan pitchers in the contest.
The loss to Texas State marked Troy's (11-16) sixth straight loss, continuing its longest losing skid of the season. The Trojans were shutout for the second straight game; Texas State pitcher Rayn House (1-8) earned her first complete-game win of the season, tossing seven shutout innings striking out seven and issuing just one walk.
The Bobcats went on top in the bottom of the second inning with a RBI double to the right-center gap by Macie Hair scored Delia Saucedo from second, who singled to start the frame. The Trojans avoided further damage as Hair was thrown out at third to end the inning trying to extend her two-bagger into a triple.
Three Troy errors in the bottom of the third paved the way for the Bobcats to extend their lead to 4-0. A dropped fly ball and two fielding errors by the Troy infield on ground balls hit by Texas State with two outs allowed three unearned runs to score in the third inning. The Bobcats scattered just five hits in the game.
Jordan Masek recorded her third home run this season with a solo shot in the fourth inning off Troy starter Rachel Rigney to end the day for the freshman. Rigney (6-7) lasted 3.1 innings, allowing five runs, two earned and giving up four hits. Jaycee Affeldt held the Bobcats off the scoreboard for the final 2.2 innings, striking out three and allowing just one hit.
House did not allow a leadoff batter to reach base as Troy recorded just four hits against the Bobcats. Kacie McAllister extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single to center in the fourth inning. Chandler Griffin, Ebony Wright and Taylor Smartt also added a hit a piece in the loss.
The Trojans jump back in to Sun Belt play this weekend at North Texas and face the Mean Green in a three-game series starting on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lovelace Stadium in Denton, Texas.
